Are you struggling to stay motivated in your workplace?

Do you notice how you start the day strong, but by lunchtime you’ve not really achieved anything you set out to do?

How annoying! Good intentions are just good intentions without a plan.

Whether your workplace is your office or home, here are our 5 tips to increase workspace productivity.

Remove Distractions

Out of mind, out of sight.

If you notice yourself getting distracted constantly, it can help to remove the things that are distracting you.

A whopping 89% of people waste time at work!

If you use a work phone, remove apps that aren’t needed and set up time limits on apps that are needed but have the potential to take up a lot of time.

Eat the Frog

Eat the frog is an idea written about by the author Brain Tracy.

Basically, it means to start each day by accomplishing your hardest task first.

If you have two important tasks before you, start with the biggest, hardest, and most important task first.

It’s easy and it may seem smart to complete your easiest tasks first. But a lot of people slump in the afternoon and never get to completing their hardest task.

Focusing on your most diffciult task first sets you up for the day and motivates you to accomplish more.

Manage Your Inbox

Emails can be a necessary evil.

It’s the most common method of communication in business and a way for your clients and coworkers to communicate with you.

However, your email can be one of your biggest distractions in your day and if not managed properly can lead to procrastination.

To avoid this, try to limit your email use to certain periods of the day. You can try the morning, just after lunch, and finally at the end of the workday. Find a schedule that works for you and your role.

Also, consider setting email rules so emails are sorted as they arrive in your inbox. This will save you a lot of time.

Take a Break

Don’t be afraid to step away from your workspace.

Sometimes a break can re-energise and make you more productive. There’s no denying that work can be stressful and for most people stress isn’t conducive to productivity.

Give yourself small breaks in between tasks and use that time to walk around and stretch.

Don’t scroll mindlessly on your phone!

If you’re looking for a new time management technique, consider the Pomodoro Technique.

Set Your Workplace Environment

You can set up your workplace in a way that works for you.

Organise your desk so it isn’t cluttered and messy. Use draws to store documents that aren’t needed right now and keep stationary tidy.

Don’t forget to set the room temperature too! That way you’ll feel just right and comfortable.

These small things can make a massive difference to your day and keep you motivated.
